What is IELTS?

IELTS expanded as the international English language testing system.

  • IELTS, acknowledged as the world’s biggest English test, judging a candidate’s proficiency in English; specialized and designed for educational aspirants migrating abroad. It has been embraced as one of the world's biggest international test system for the English language in the majority of all English educational establishments operating in Australia, Canada, the UK, and New Zealand and by various professional organizations around the globe. IELTS is administered in co-operation by the Cambridge Assessment English, IDP Education Australia, and British Council.
  • IELTS is categorized into four parts:

  • IELTS SPEAKING :

    An informal interview based on a face to face interaction with the examiner and candidate, lasting for approximately 12 to 15 minutes embodied with 3 speaking parts.:
  • IELTS LISTENING :

    A test judging English listening capabilities, where a recording is played of 30 minutes duration having 40 questions to be solved of different difficulty levels and provided with 10 minutes for transfer of answers..
  • IELTS READING :

    A test incorporated with reading having 3 passages and 40 questions testing one’s analytical, English vocabulary and understanding skills, lasting for 60 minutes with no extra time for transferring answers. The reading is divided into two parts Academic and General Training.
  • IELTS WRITING :

    A written test sectioned into writing task 1 and writing task 2. IELTS writing task 1 is a short report on a line graph, pie chart, map, table etcetera. Task 1 for general training is a letter. IELTS writing task 2 for both Academic and General Training is a formal essay. The test lasts for 60 minutes.
  • IELTS is scored on a nine-band scale, with each band corresponding to a specified competence in English. Overall Band Scores are reported to the nearest whole or half band..
